The M.S.E.R.C. constituted the Meghalaya State Electricity Advisory Committee on 5th February, 2007. This Committee, set up in accordance with Section 87 of the Electricity Act, 2003, has the mandate to advise the Commission on questions of policy, protection of interest of consumers and other matters relating to supply and distribution of electricity in the State. The first meeting of the State Advisory Committee held on 4th September 2007 was inaugurated by the Governor of Meghalaya, Sri. B.L. Joshi.
